Destination: Kapi’olani Community College (KCC) offers Honolulu’s premiere farmer’s market every Saturday morning from 7:30-11:00 am and it’s good to get there early. It’s the only market on the island featuring all Hawaii grown and produced food – a combination of fresh fruits and vegetables and gift items like homemade jams, honeys and baked goods. You can eat breakfast at many of the stands, snack on fresh roasted corn and oatcakes and enjoy a cup of 100% Kona coffee or fresh pineapple juice.
Focus: Food – Local, Organic, Ono
Soundtrack for the drive: A mix tape Matt Tahaney made for me in 2001 that includes Doves, Spoon, Starsailor, Travis, The Strokes, Jen Trynin and Pete Yorn. I usually listen to this on repeat for four or five days at a time.
Quote of the Day: If you cry because the sun has gone out of your life, your tears will prevent you from seeing the stars ~ Rabindranath Tagore
Lesson learned: I love photographing fruit. I should spend more time at farmer’s markets.
